Managing Unemployment Cost

presented by Fran De Luca, National Account Manager & Sales Support Liaison for ADP

Today's business leaders are continually being challenged to do more with less. Payroll and HR professionals can use tax cuts to enhance their own standing with senior managers because, unlike other taxes, State Unemployment Insurance (SUI) premiums are partly based on your company's HR behavior. They are your only controllable tax.

Our presenter, Fran De Luca, has over 29 years of experience in UI with ADP’s Unemployment Compensation Services, helping clients manage and control their UI costs. Fran will discuss how to monitor your unemployment insurance claims and watch for invalid claims or errors by the state. She will also cover how a third-party vendor such as ADP can manage this process for you and help you control SUI costs.

You Will Learn About:

  • History and Purpose for Unemployment Insurance
  • Requirements for Collecting
  • Groundwork for Contesting Claims
  • Documenting Progressive Discipline
  • The Long-Term effects on your SUI rates
  • Options for Proper Management of SUI Cost

Our Speaker is FRAN DE LUCA, National Account Manager and Sales Support Liaison for ADP.

Professional Background: Fran attended Northeastern Illinois University, Chicago, Illinois where she earned several degrees in Business Administration, Secondary Education, and Foreign Languages.  Fran began her business career with ADP UCM in 1979 holding various client service, training and management positions.  During her 29 years in the unemployment claims industry, Fran has developed management training for both UCM associates and clients.  She has also been extensively involved in the development and delivery of sales and product training for the current UCM Claims Management Program.

Fran's current responsibilities as a National Account Manager and Sales Support Liaison include: client service responsibility for several large ADP UCM clients, supporting the Sales organization in pricing and contract negotiations, and delivering UCM product training and UI Seminars for various employer groups and within ADP.  In December 2006, Fran contributed an article for the American Payroll Association’s Paytech magazine titled “Avoid Separation Anxiety: The Proper Hiring and Firing Can Help You Reduce Your SUI Tax Rate”.  The article dealt with the issues of employee separations and how proper handling of separations can help employers control their SUI tax rates.

Community Outreach Project :

April is here and it's time for Spring Cleaning! While you're at it, pick up some extra cleaning supplies for our donation to Community Housing Services in Lansdale.

Community Housing Services provides permanent solutions to the problems of homelessness and near homelessness for those of low income and moderate income in Montgomery County, PA.
The mission objectives of CHS are crisis intervention and supportive services, as needed by the homeless, such as supportive services to persons in need of low income housing, counseling, referrals for job training and job placement opportunities, assistance in locating child care and transportation for employment purposes.

Please help us support this cause by donating cleaning supplies to help these individuals settle into their new surroundings.

We will be collecting floor, kitchen & bathroom cleaners, cleanser, dish soap, sponges, brushes, laundry detergent, fabric softener, soap, shampoo and anything else you can carry! Hint: dollar stores are a great place to load up on these items, so be generous!
