Governor Rendell signs Local Tax bill Senate Bill218!  Some of the highlights of the Bill are listed below -

1. The bill renames the tax to 'Local Service Tax' (LST) - previous know as Emergency & Municipal Service Tax

2. Beginning next year (Jan. 1 2008) employers are to deduct $1 per week!

3. Employees who earned less than $12,000 a year are exempt from the tax.

4. Dept of Community and Economic Development will develop a uniform procedure for filing and processing the exemption certificates.
