Jania Stout, Managing Director, Co-Founder of Fiduciary Plan Advisors at HighTower, brings over 22 years of experience in ERISA plan consulting to her role as Practice Leader. Her team advises over 3 billion in retirement plan assets covering over 200,000 employees. She was named the 2016 Plan Adviser of the Year by Plan Sponsor Magazine and is currently the President for National Association of Plan Advisors (NAPA). Jania spent the first half of her career working at two of the biggest recordkeepers in the industry. She was a Senior Account Executive at Fidelity prior to becoming an independent advisor. While at Fidelity, Jania advised on retirement plan solutions for mid-market companies. Jania gained tremendous exposure to the challenges plan sponsors face and their need to have a fiduciary partner.

Ms. Stout has been very involved with NAPA over the past decade. The Council is charged with setting the strategic direction and making policy decisions on all matters related to NAPA’s mission. Ms. Stout was asked to testify in front of Congress in the summer of 2017 to speak as a Retirement Expert. She has also met with the DOL in the Spring of 2016 to provide her thoughts and opinions about the pending (at the time) Fiduciary Regulation. Jania has been featured in the Washington Post, Investment News, Benefits Magazine, RIA Biz and Plan Sponsor Magazine. Her team won one of the most prestigious awards in the industry in 2013; the 401(k) Advisor Leadership Award sponsored by National Association of Plan Advisors (NAPA). She is a regular speaker at the Plan Sponsor National Conference.

The dinner menu will be a Three Silos Buffet.  A selection of Fruit salad, Farm Greens, Oven Roasted Chicken, Pan Seared Salmon, Orecchiette Pasta, Seasonal Vegetables,  Starch and Cheesecake for dessert.   If you have special dietary needs please contact Jen at vicepresident@sepaapa.org

Please remember that if your membership is due for renewal, you must first renew your membership online before you will be able to register at the member rate.  Membership renewal is located in the Membership section of the SEPA website.

Registration for this event will close as of November 11, 2019 or earlier if registration reaches room capacity.  Walk-ins cannot be guaranteed a seat and will only be allowed into the event at the chapter's discretion based on available accommodations.

This month Community Outreach will be collecting for the Mattie N Dixon Community Cupboard in Ambler.

We are fast approaching the Season for giving.  Your generosity can help those in need in feeding their families. The director of the center has included a "Wish List" for November, but any and all donations are greatly appreciated!

Updates:

SEPA Adopt a Highway Clean-Up

We want to thank Ray Nolden and the other volunteers who helped clean up the highway that SEPA adopted on Gulf Road by the Valley Forge Casino.  We had the largest turnout of volunteers in recent years.

2019 Elections

This meeting also holds the elections for the Board positions of Vice President and Government Liaison. Come vote for new officers of the club!

We are looking for members to invest in the Chapter with their ideas.  Board Members meet about four times a year to discuss the direction of the chapter.  No experience is necessary, just a willingness to participate and offer suggestions on improving the chapter.  Below are the Descriptions for the two current openings. 

VICE PRESIDENT

Responsibilities/Job Description

This officer must be a regular member in good standing with the American Payroll Association.

  • Works directly with the President to ensure that the information provided protects the integrity and intent of the Chapter and the Institute.
  • Fulfills/assumes the duties and responsibilities in the event the President is absent or unable to complete the term of office
  • Assist the President with all administrative functions.
  • Works directly with the hotel for all chapter meetings, providing number of people attending and dinner selections.  Work with the hotel to provide necessary equipment needed by the speakers.  Example – podium, screen, projector.
  • Works the registration table for all meetings with the help of other chapter members when needed.
  • Coordinate social events.  Take recommendations from the nomination committee for volunteers for various social events.

GOVERNMENT LIAISON OFFICER

Responsibilities/Job Description

This officer must be a regular member in good standing with the American Payroll Association. 

  • Works directly with the President to ensure that the information provided protects the integrity and intent of the chapter and the Institute.
  • Answers questions from the membership (verbal or written) within the limits of the Officer’s job when it concerns government relations.
  • Provides up-to-date information on new tax laws, revisions and reporting modifications to the membership.
  • Submits regular reports of activities and project status to the President.
  • In order to meet these responsibilities, the GLO should maintain resources of information at government levels.  These resources would include, but are not limited to, the APA Government Liaison; federal, state, and local legislative changes; publications; and newsletters.
