 Mr. Furlong is a Senior Stakeholder Liaison in the Stakeholder Liaison office of the Internal Revenue Service Communications & Liaison Division. Stakeholder Liaison serves as the primary IRS liaison office to tax practitioner organizations throughout the country.

 

Mr. Furlong coordinates the annual IRS Eastern Pennsylvania “Working Together” Conference. “Working Together” is a joint effort of public and private tax professionals to enhance the level of communication, education, and trust between these organizations and individuals. Mr. Furlong is also a member of the PA IRS/Practitioner Liaison Council which provides a structured forum for Pennsylvania accounting and tax professional organizations to meet periodically with IRS managers and employees to discuss current IRS program issues.

 Each year, Mr. Furlong represents IRS at practitioner face-to-face seminars and online webinars where he discusses IRS policies and procedures, tax law updates, and emerging areas of tax administration. In 2018 he served on a detail assignment to the IRS C& L Technical Communications Branch where he assisted with the development and implementation of the IRS communications and outreach strategy for various provisions of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA). In 2020 he will be representing Stakeholder Liaison on the IRS Taxpayer First Act Communications & Outreach Team.

Mr. Furlong is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics.

Dinner Menu

The dinner menu will be ‘Farmer’s Delight.  A selection of soup, salad, oven roasted chicken, pasta primavera, beef flank steak, seasonal vegetables and starch with cheesecake for dessert’.  If you have special dietary needs please contact Jen at vicepresident@sepaapa.org.

Please remember that if your membership is due for renewal, you must first renew your membership online before you will be able to register at the member rate.  Membership renewal is located in the Membership section of the SEPA website.

Registration for this event will close as of February 12, 2020 or earlier if registration reaches room capacity.  Walk-ins Welcomed! 

Community Outreach

Our Community Outreach for the February meeting will be Laurel House in Montgomery County.  Below is the Mission and Wish List for Laurel House.  In addition to the Wish List the shelter manager also made a suggestion of other needed items such as:  disposable gloves (for cooking and cleaning), paper plates and napkins.

 

The mission of Laurel House is to advocate for and empower those impacted by domestic violence by providing crisis intervention, safe haven, supportive programs and resources; as well as to advance social change through preventative education and through community training and collaboration to foster a coordinated response to domestic abuse

2020 Membership Drive!!!!!!

We would like to add 40 members to chapter by the end of 2020.  Our goal is to have 20 new members by the May 2020 meeting and another 20 new members by the November 2020 meeting.  We cannot do this without the help of our current members.  

We plan to reward Members who help us grow the chapter by having 2 different raffles with substantial prizes, below are the details on how to participate and the rewards!!!

Membership Drive Raffle Rules

1.  All members with dues paid up to date by January 15th, 2020 will receive a raffle ticket.

2.  All paid members will receive one raffle ticket for every meeting attended in 2020.

3.  Any member who brings a co-worker with them for a 2020 meeting will receive 10 raffle tickets.

a.  This will double to 20 raffle tickets if the co-worker joins the chapter at the meeting.

4.  Any member who recruits a new member, will receive 20 raffle tickets.  If the new member attends the next meeting, the raffle tickets will double to 40.

5.  The member who refers the most new members will receive 40 raffle tickets. 

Raffle Drawings and Prizes!!!!

The first drawing will be at the May 2020 meeting to kick off the membership drive.  The prize is a registration for the 2020 PA Statewide Conference in the Pittsburg area.   But wait, that’s not all….  SEPA will also pick up the cost of one night in the hotel where the conference is being held. Up to a grand total of $500 prize value.  Receipts required.

The GRAND PRIZE, a FREE registration to the American Payroll Association’s 39th Annual Congress in Nashville, TN the week of May 18th to the 21st, will be drawn at the November 2020 Chapter Meeting.
